Our flagship product, the pupalarm, is the first of its kind on the market. It was born from our own experiences of being placed in situations where dogs approaching on walks caused concern to not only our dogs but to us humans as well. During product development, we were recounted with numerous stories of people and their own dogs being intimidated by off leash dogs, dogs jumping up and nipping, people feeling uneasy surrounded by packs of dogs, and many whom simply felt uncomfortable or noticed their own dog exhibiting anxiety. Sometimes it is possible to negotiate your way out of the situation, but in many cases the possibility of escalation is real and can happen very quickly.
The pupalarm is handheld personal dog safety device specifically designed for deterring dogs. Because all dogs react differently, there are 3 unique options for sounds – a siren, high pitch and firm male voice stating ‘No Stop Away!’. Through research and trials we have placed these in order of what we found to be the most effective. If the first sound does not provoke a response, a simple double click of the button moves to the following sound. Most dogs actively move away from the device, become distracted and lose their focus, or curiously seek out the source of the sound allowing you to de-escalate and/or remove yourself from the situation. The sounds will also alert others to the situation who may be able to assist.
When it comes to dog training and behaviour modification, we staunchly advocate for humane options and do not prescribe to any methods that could inflict harm. Citronella and other sprays can cause adverse skin, eye and gastrointestinal reactions, as well as discomfort. Personal alarms for human use have an average decibel level of 130dB which can immediately cause pain and damage to a dog’s sensitive ears. The decibel level each audio component of the pupalarm is set lower (under 110 dB SPL) with a restricted playback time of 15 seconds, both within range that is deemed safe for both humans AND dogs. These safety levels have been set in direct consultation with specialists in the field of canine audiology. The health and welfare of your own dog and the dogs who are subject to the deterrent remain priority.
Upon activation of the pupalarm, your own dog may also exhibit a response. Getting them used to the sounds is encouraged because if or when a situation arises where the pupalarm is needed, they will be less likely to react. There are simple methods to do this – please refer to the ‘Instructions’ page. For their own safety it is still advisable to ensure your own dog is secured prior to activating the pupalarm.
With the included attachments, the pupalarm can be carried via a wrist strap or conveniently attached to keys or a leash. The USB port allows for easy recharging without need for battery replacement.

This device is a game changer for my wife and myself. Over the years we’ve unfortunately had a number of occasions with other dogs suddenly being overly aggressive towards our Goldies. Incredibly effective! Our boy is a large Staghound and is very friendly but we don’t let him off-leash outside of our farm. Recently an off-leash dog at a rec reserve rushed up to him with a very bold posture. I used the pupalarm to break the strange dog’s focus and it was enough to allow us some space until the owner managed to retrieve their dog. My boy now knows the alarm is a cue for him to give me his attention.
